For those of us who spent our misguided youths in amusement arcades, chip shops and cafes and our misguided later years in pubs and clubs, Barcrest is name which probably needs very little introduction. In 1998 Barcrest was acquired by the American gaming giant IGT who were looking to expand their operations into Europe and not long afterwards the company began to get involved in the design and development of online slots and other online casino games. Over the subsequent years it developed a number of well-received slots and this development process culminated in 2006 with the release of the still-popular Rainbow Riches, a title which has spawned a number of sequels and offshoots.

In 2011 Barcrest was acquired from IGT by another US company called Scientific Games who merged it with another organisation called The Global Draw. Both now operate under the SG Gaming brand but the Barcrest name lives on in it’s online slots.
